Canon EOS Rebel T2i Memory Card and Battery Compatibility
Release Date, Original MSRP, and Used Price
The EOS Rebel T2i was released in 2010 with an original MSRP of $899.99 with 18-55mm STM lens.
The EOS Rebel T2i has a used price between $100 to $175.
The lower end of the range is likely missing a battery, charger, lens, and/or memory card. Take required accessories into account when comparing used cameras to buy.
Canon EOS Rebel T2i Battery Type & Replacements
The Canon EOS Rebel T2i uses a Lithium-Ion LP-E8 rechargeable battery & charger.
The battery can not be charged via USB. This means a battery charger will be necessary. There are third party battery chargers available.
Memory Card Compatibility & Recommendation
The Canon EOS Rebel T2i is compatible with SD/SDHC/SDXC memory cards.
That means compatible EOS Rebel T2i SD cards can have a maximum storage capacity of up to 2TB.
If you need a card, my recommendation is to get a 128GB SD card with UHS-I. This will provide the best price to performance, capacity, and compatibility with other devices.
Canon EF/EF-S Mount Lens Compatibility
The EOS Rebel T2i is compatible with Canon EOS EF mount and EF-S mount lenses. There are an overwhelming number of choices for circular fisheye, ultra wide angle, perspective control, macro, telephoto, mirror, bellows, and all kinds of zooms.
EF-S lenses have been designed for cameras with APS-C sized sensors. Using a EF lens on the EOS Rebel T2i will result in a “1.6x crop.” The 1.6x crop factor on Canon APS-C DSLRs effectively multiplies the focal length of the lens by 1.6, as the field of view will be narrower.
Notable Features
- Active D-Lighting
- 3.7 fps continuous shooting
- Auto Active D-Lighting System
- Custom Setting Options
- Red eye correction
Sensor & Image Processor
The EOS Rebel T2i has an APS-C (22.3 x 14.9 mm) sized sensor with 18.0 megapixels. This is paired a Digic 4 image processor.
Video Capabilities
The Canon EOS Rebel T2i can record video at 1920 x 1080 (30, 25, 24 fps), 1280 x 720 (60, 50 fps), 640 x 480 (60, 50 fps) in H.264.
The EOS Rebel T2i does not have a fully articulated LCD screen. This is a drawback for shooting video. Without a front facing screen, the camera will not be good for vlogging.
There is no port for a external microphone. The camera has a mic jack.
Does the Canon EOS Rebel T2i Have Wireless? Wifi, Bluetooth, GPS?
