Panasonic GX9 Memory Card Compatibility

SD, SDHC, and SDXC memory cards are compatible with the Panasonic GX9. Fast write speeds are an essential element for continuous shooting and video.
The card you purchase has a large effect on the functionality of your camera.
Don’t care about the jargon? This is my suggestion on the SD memory card to use in your Panasonic GX9:

- UHS-I, U1, and Class 10 Speed Rating. Can sustain 10MB/s write speeds.
- Excellent choice for photos.
- Capable of recording Full HD (1920x1080) Video.
- Inexpensive with more than good enough performance.
- Larger capacities are available for a reasonable price.
Best SD Cards
SD cards are now significantly more affordable than when the camera was originally made available.
Due to the cost being quite cheap, it is not going to make sense to buy anything besides a high-quality SD memory card.
The best memory cards I use have been the SanDisk Extreme Pro, Lexar Professional, and PNY Elite Performance models. I have never had a card become inoperable or data errors with any of those SD memory cards.
All the complications I have had has been with low-cost unbranded memory cards. Hoping to save a small amount of money is not worthwhile if your GX9 will not operate as it should.
A savvy way to spend less money is to purchase a smaller capacity SD card from a high-quality manufacturer. Because of this, you will know your shots are safe and sound on the card.

Four separate types of Secure Digital (SD) cards that you should take into consideration. They are divided by capactiy.

Speed, Class, & UHS Ratings
Card Speed
Speed ratings of an SD card is based on the continuous write and read transfer speeds of the card. SD memory card continuous write speed is very important for continuous shooting as well as video.
Slows memory cards can cause a decrease in the number of continuous images the Panasonic GX9 can take. This is due to the camera’s buffer not being able to write data to the memory card quickly enough.
With video, a slow memory card can cause a sudden end to shooting. The video file might also be corrupted. If you intend to capture video, it is essential the card you use meets the requirements of the GX9.
Card read speed is nice to have for transferring files to a computer. If you have cards that are full, a card with a fast read speed will cut down on the amount of time it takes the transfer to complete.
Speed Class Rating

An SD memory card receives a Class rating dependant upon its sustained write speed. Memory cards that have a write speed of 10MB/s will be labeled Class 10.
- Class 2 - 2MB/s
- Class 4 - 4MB/s
- Class 6 - 6MB/s
- Class 8 - 8MB/s
- Class 10 - 10MB/s or faster
Every brand of SD memory card that you can buy will receive a Class 10 rating. You can find the class rating of a card by searching for a number inside of the C on the sticker.
Ultra High Speed (UHS)

The Ultra High Speed (UHS) bus comes in SDUC, SDXC, and SDHC memory cards. UHS allows provides a way to improve file transfer rates.
There are 3 different versions. The versions are UHS-I, UHS-II, and UHS-III.
Look at the front of the card to figure out the UHS rating of a memory card. If there is a Roman numeral I, II, or III on the front of the SD memory card, that is going to be the UHS rating of your SD memory card.
- UHS-I - Maximum transfer rate of 104 MB/s
- UHS-II - Maximum transfer rate of 312 MB/s
- UHS-III - Maximum transfer rate of 624 MB/s
