The Nikon D5100 original price in 2011 was $799.95 for the body only. It cost $899.95 with the Nikon AF-S DX Zoom-NIKKOR 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR kit lens.

That kit was $200 more expensive than the $699.95 D3100 with the slightly different Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR.

Those prices included a battery and charger. An SD memory card for the Nikon D5100 was not included. A compatible one can be found for around $15.

How much is a Nikon D5100 worth?

Based on sold listings on eBay, a Nikon D5100 with the kit lens can be found for less than $200. At that price, it’s a good value.

The camera body on it’s own can be found for less than $150. There are lots of great lenses for the Nikon D5100.

Price adjusted for inflation

Adjusting the Nikon D5100 for inflation, $799.95 in April of 2011 is equivalent to $1,155.25 in September of 2025.

The D5100 was an exciting camera because that would be enough to get a Nikon Z50II with 16-50mm kit lens today.
