The Nikon D4 uses a Lithium-Ion EN-EL18 rechargeable battery & charger.
The battery can not be charged via USB. This means a battery charger will be necessary. There are third party battery chargers available.
The Nikon D4 is compatible with CompactFlash, XQD memory cards.
The D4 is compatible with Nikon F mount lenses. This opens up a wide range of lens possibilities. A full range of lenses exists including circular fisheye, ultra wide angle, perspective control, macro, telephoto, mirror, bellows, and all kinds of zooms.

The D4 has an Full frame (36 x 23.9 mm) sized sensor. This is paired with the Expeed 3 image processor.
The Nikon D4 can record video at 1920 x 1080 (30, 25, 24 fps), 1280 x 720 (60, 50, 30, 25 fps), 640 x 424 (30, 25 fps) in MPEG-4, H.264. The fixed screen on the D4 can make shooting video difficult.
The lack of a fully articulated LCD screen is a big drawback for video use.
The D4 does not have built in wireless. The via WT-5, WT-5A is needed to for a wifi connection.
The D4 does not have built-in GPS.
The GP-1 or GPS device compliant with NMEA0183 version 2.01 or 3.01 (requires optional MC-35 GPS adapter cord and cable with D-sub 9-pin connector) is needed to enable GPS capability. This will store location data in the exif data of photos.
